We didn’t have much time for portraits outside, and it was FREEZING and windy outside, but I did manage to take a few at a field next to Hollywood Casino.

Rachel makes the BEST faces (and still looks beautiful while making them!)

I wanted to slightly underexpose the image to allow the colors to really soak through and allow the candlelight to light up their faces. It was such a pretty backdrop!

I had been looking forward to Rachel and Jimmy’s wedding for many months….They are the type of client every photographer dreams of! Kind, sweet, head-over-heels in love with each other. I knew their wedding day would be extra special, and I was not disappointed. Rachel had a beautiful glow all day, never showing a sign of stress. I will be splitting their wedding into 3 blog posts because there is so much to show!

Rachel and Jimmy chose to do a first look. It was such an intimate, beautiful moment they were able to share on their wedding day. Yes, I was tearing up behind the lens of my camera. I am so humbled and appreciative that I get to capture the most intimate, meaningful moments in my clients lives!

When you wait to see each other until you’re walking down the aisle, you don’t get this moment together. You have to share your moment with all of your wedding guests, and it just isn’t the same. You don’t get to just take each other in, hold each other, and go through all of the emotions together. I encourage ALL brides and grooms to partake in this new tradition- I promise it is not a decision you’ll regret!

One reason I love living in this area- there are so many fabulous places to shoot! I am lovin’ the Pennsylvania State Capitol Building. The architecture is amazing, which makes for some amazing artwork for my client’s walls. I was totally flattered that Nikki and Andrew made a 4 hour round-trip to drive down for me to take their engagement portraits. I will be shooting their wedding at Haywoods on the Water in Williamsport, PA next year and can’t wait! This is definitely one of my favorite engagement sessions to date (although I do think that after every session!) I had some new lighting techniques I’ve been wanting to try out and I’m super happy with the results! We had a BEAUTIFUL day for Katie and Brett’s engagement session on Saturday. They wanted to go to Little Buffalo State Park for the session, and it was a perfect location. Their wedding will be held next year at the Fox Chase Golf Club in PA. I can’t wait! Katie is sure to be a stunning bride

Wedding at the Pennsylvania State Capitol Building; Harrisburg, PA

Since moving to the area a year ago, I hadn’t made it to the State Capitol until shooting this wedding. I was second shooting for Thomas Beaman again (thanks Thomas!) I am so appreciative of all the second shooting opportunities Thomas has given me. As long as I’m in business, I hope to always be able to fit in at least a few times to be a second shooter throughout the year. It really allows me to not only gain more experience and get to know new venues, but it allows me to see things from a different perspective on the wedding day as well. For example, Thomas stays with the girls while they’re getting ready while I’m shooting the guys; or at this wedding I stayed in the balcony for the entire wedding, but if I was shooting it myself I would have been back and forth from the ground floor to the balcony.

I loved shooting at the Harrisburg Capitol Rotunda, the architecture inside is beautiful! The wedding reception was held at the Colonial Golf and Tennis Club in Harrisburg.

Here is another wedding I was a second shot with Thomas Beaman. Justin and Devon were married at the St. Patrick Cathedral in Harrisburg, PA. I had never been there before, and I was blown away by the beauty of this church. I love shooting in Catholic Churches- although the lighting is not always ideal, they are always gorgeous! Following the wedding was a reception at the West Shore Country Club in Camp Hill, Pa. Again, it was my first time shooting there and I’m definitely looking forward to photographing another wedding reception there
